Defend all Constitutional Rights- At the age of 19, I enlisted in the USAF and later became an officer and pilot. I made a solemn vow to support and defend our Constitution. I am a lifelong defender of our freedoms. I will fight hard to protect and uphold medical freedom, free speech, parental rights, and our right to bear arms.
Border Security- I am pro-immigration, but believe the pathway to citizenship must be done through Naturalization. Border security is national security.
Lower Taxes- Maine is the 4th highest taxed state in the nation and has seen record surpluses in recent years. The nonpartisan Revenue Forecasting Committee projects Maine’s surplus tax revenue will reach nearly $373 million in the next two years. With the cost of living skyrocketing and out-of-control inflation, Mainers need that money back more than ever to pay for things like groceries and electricity. I will prioritize tax relief to ensure our families keep more of their hard-earned money.
Education Reform- I have spent the last 19 years in education as a teacher and administrator. I have seen firsthand the need for education reform. In the 1990s, the National Assessment of Education Progress consistently ranked Maine’s students in first and second place in the areas of reading and math. Today, they are ranked 36th. It’s time to shift our focus back to the basics of learning and less on the politically driven subjects. More importantly, we need to consider restructuring education to meet the needs of the workforce. A one-size-fits-all college-prep track is outdated and inequitable. We need to prepare our students for whatever track they pursue, whether that be vocational/technical training or college preparatory. Let’s reexamine the whole system to equip our children and grandchildren for a bright future.
